Traveling, seeing new things and experiencing new adventures has always been a passion of mine. I joined Liberty Travel in 1983 and started my career as a travel agent. Since that time I've traveled in the U.S. as well as abroad. I’ve been to almo...

Our journey began in Basel, Switzerland. We arrived the day before our cruise to explore the area on our own. Basel had several markets each offering arts, unique crafts, and delicious treats. The next day we boarded our ship, the Viking Kara and were welcomed by a friendly crew. The ships sleek Scandinavian design added to the ambiance and was truly welcoming. Our cruise on the Rhine took us to ports in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Each port offered included excursions that immersed us the local culture, customs, and day to day life and visiting the markets with their displayed artwork, hand-made crafts, and delicious foods was amazing. The Christmas decorations definitely put us in the spirit of the season!!  We tried Gluhwein, a delicious German Christmas concoction made of  red wine, spices, citrus, and sugar that definitely warmed us up!  Whether you want to visit the Christmas markets or any of the magnificent rivers of Europe, river cruising is definitely a great option as there is so much to see and do!
